Muspelheim is the realm of fire, to the south of Ginnungagap. Its sparks and heat dripped onto the rime of Niflheim, melting it and beginning the creation of the world [S2]. At Ragnarök, Muspel's fire (led by Surt) destroys the world [S1][S2].
