About this card

Jörmungandr (the Midgard Serpent) is the world-serpent, son of Loki and Angerboa [S2]. The gods, fearing him, cast him into the sea around Midgard, where he grew so large that he encircles the whole world and bites his own tail [S2]. Thor famously fishes him up in one episode (the great catch), but lets him go when he realizes the serpent's size [S2]. At Ragnarök, Jörmungandr rises from the sea, and Thor slays him — but walks nine steps and dies of the serpent's venom [S1][S2].
