About this card

'Enki' (Sumerian; 'Ea' in Akkadian) is the freshwater god of wisdom, magic, and the 'me' (the divine decrees) [S5][S6]. His great temple was at Eridu (the 'Aabzu' — the 'house of the deep'), the oldest city in Sumerian tradition [S5][S6]. Enki is the god of wisdom, magic, and the 'me' — the divine decrees that order the world [S5]. He is the 'apku' (the sage), the patron of the scribes and the craftsmen [S5]. In the Atrahasis and the Gilgamesh flood-story, Enki (Ea) saves the flood-hero (Atrahasis/Utnapishtim) against Enlil's will, by whispering to the hero to build a boat [S2][S3]. Enki is the father of Nabu (the god of writing) [S5]. Enki's 'slanding' of Apsu (in the Atrahasis) is the creation-of-humanity story [S3].
