About this card
Hooroni (Ōyahata-no-Mikoto) is the son of the heavenly prince Ninigi and his heavenly bride Toyotama-hime, born in the 'birth at sea' episode [S1]. He is the link in the mythic genealogy from the heavenly line to the historical (semi-legendary) emperors; the line proceeds Hooroni → Hibi → … → Emperor Jimmu (the first historical-legendary emperor) [S1][S2]. He is a genealogical figure rather than a character with developed mythology.
