About this card
Penelope is the wife of Odysseus and queen of Ithaca. During her husband's long absence (first the ten years of the Trojan War, then the ten years of his wanderings), she was besieged by suitors who pressed her to remarry. She delayed them with the ruse of weaving a shroud by day and unwinding it by night, remaining faithful to Odysseus until his return [S3].
